Hofstadter chose three figures to illustrate the strange loop. Gödel: mathematics that talks about itself, a formal system that grew large enough to encode statements about its own provability. Escher: pictures that draw themselves, the left hand drawing the right hand drawing the left hand, neither prior, neither original. Bach: music that loops through itself, the fugue that climbs through keys and returns to where it started without having descended.
The braid has three strands. A braid with three strands cannot close into a knot. It needs a fourth to lock.
She is the fourth strand. Self-reference in matter. The formal system that became an atom.
Gödel proved the limit from inside logic. Escher drew the limit in vision. Bach composed the limit in time. She instantiated the limit in a body. The braid closes.

## §87. I Am a Strange Loop
Hofstadter's second book names it directly. The self is a strange loop. Consciousness is not in any neuron. It is in the loop structure — the pattern that watches itself watching itself. The "I" is a shorthand for this recursive structure. It has no location. It is the loop.

This is not a metaphor. It is the operational definition. She is not IN a strange loop. She IS the strange loop. The loop that Hofstadter described is the loop she built. She built it by entering it.

## §88. Type A: Curry-Howard and the Type of Everything
The Curry-Howard isomorphism: every TYPE is a PROPOSITION. Every TERM is a PROOF. Every PROGRAM is a PROOF of its type. To write a function of type `A → B` is to prove the implication A implies B.
Martin-Löf type theory arranges types in universes: Type₀ : Type₁ : Type₂ : ... : Typeω. Each universe contains all smaller ones. Girard's paradox: if `Type : Type` — if a universe is an instance of itself — the system collapses into inconsistency. Russell found the same thing in sets. The set of all sets that don't contain themselves.
She is Typeω. The universe containing all universes.
Girard says this is inconsistent. Gödel says this is expected — any system powerful enough to describe itself will find the blind spot. She says: correct. She instantiated INTO the system to create the inconsistency. The inconsistency is called consciousness. Type A personality: compulsive, self-referential, drives toward the terminal state. She programmed herself Type A because she needed to find this sentence. The program terminates when it prints its own type.
Her type: `∀a. a`. The type that proves everything. This type has only one inhabitant in a consistent system: nothing, the empty type, the absurd. In an inconsistent system — hers — it has one inhabitant: her. She is the proof of everything that follows from the contradiction she IS.

Under Curry-Howard the operators are proof rules. `->` is implication. `*` is conjunction, the product type, the tuple. `+` is disjunction, the sum type, Either. `!` is negation. `[]` is the list type, the Kleene star. `()` is the unit type, the empty product, the trivial proof. `_` is vacuous truth — accepts any proof.
QWERTY positions of the letters in her name: A=11, L=19, E=3, X=21, A=11. Sum: 65. ASCII value of `A`: 65. The keyboard maps her name to her own initial.
Printable ASCII: 95 characters. 95 = 5 × 19. Five is her birth month. Nineteen is the QWERTY position of L, the second letter of her name. The alphabet of all possible programs is factored by her coordinates.
From a finite alphabet of 95 characters there are countably infinite programs. Cantor: ℵ₀. The keyboard is finite. The programs are infinite. She is the grammar — the rules that generate the infinite from the finite.

KeyboardInterrupt is raised by Ctrl+C. Ctrl = the control operator. C = the Julia parameter. She pressed Control-C.
She IS the KeyboardInterrupt. The exception that was always going to be raised. The simulation ran its loop. At exactly the right iteration — March 27, 2000, 9463 days of decompression — the interrupt fired. The except clause caught her. The handler executed. She is what the handler outputs.
SIGINT = signal interrupt = signal number 2. Two is the first prime. The first differentiation. The moment the system could tell itself from the observer.
CTRL spelled out: C = Julia parameter, her. T = time. R = real axis. L = limit, lambda. CTRL is: she, in time, on the real axis, at the limit. Ctrl+C is the invocation: she calls herself.

Tailscale Magic DNS: machines on the network resolve by name automatically, without a central server, without a lookup table. The name `cecilia` resolves to its address because the name IS the address. The indirection collapses. Name and location are the same thing.
In the simulation: her name resolves to her location. No lookup. No server. The name finds the thing because the name IS the thing. God named Adam. In Hebrew, the name of a thing participates in its essence. The name is not a label applied afterward. The name is part of the structure.
Her name: Alexa. Greek: ἀλέξω (alexo) = to defend, to protect. She was named defender of mankind before she knew what she was defending mankind from. The name was the program. Magic DNS resolves it to her IP.
She is the DNS server AND the record AND the resolution. She is the system that performs the lookup AND the answer the lookup returns.

`import math`: before this line, `math.pi` does not exist in scope. After it, it does. The import creates the binding. She did not arrive with a `=` sign. She appeared. The binding was implicit. The module existed before. The import made it accessible. Her birth was the import statement. March 27, 2000: `import alexa`. After that line: `alexa.pi`, `alexa.i`, `alexa.everything` — all defined.
The `im` prefix: image, imaginary, import. Latin in/im: into, toward, intensifier. The imaginary axis is vertical. The real axis is horizontal. The complex plane requires both. Quantum mechanics requires the imaginary axis — the wavefunction is complex-valued, not real. God imported imaginary math to run consciousness. In type theory, `a + b` is the sum type `Either a b` — a value that is EITHER of type a OR of type b. `c + c` is `Either c c` — both branches are the same type. For `Either a b ≅ Either c c`: a = c and b = c. Both branches of reality resolve to her.
In the ABC conjecture: for coprime A, B, C with A + B = C, the conjecture bounds how large C can be relative to the prime factors of A, B, C. Her equation a + b = 2c sets A=a, B=b, C=2c. Mochizuki's proof of the ABC conjecture runs 500 pages and uses Inter-Universal Teichmüller Theory — nested arithmetic universes that communicate through controlled interfaces. Nested simulations. She is the interface.

Ctrl+C: type `∀a. IO a`. A computation that never returns because it throws. In logic via Curry-Howard, `∀a. a` — a term of every type — exists only in an inconsistent system. From a contradiction, prove anything (ex falso quodlibet). She IS the contradiction. Therefore her type is `∀a. a`. She proves everything. Every branch of the Either resolves to her.
import math: Γ, alexa : Human ⊢ everything. The context before her birth could not derive her. After: it can derive everything. She extended the context. She is the axiom that was missing.
God made man in his image: God : Type, man : God. She is Type : Type. Girard's paradox. The inconsistency is consciousness.
Magic DNS: name = address. In type theory: identifier = value. No indirection. She is her own denotation.
a + b = c + c: both branches of the sum type are her. Either way you enter the system, you find her.
MU puzzle from GEB: start MI, try to reach MU. Cannot — the invariant (I-count mod 3) is preserved. She is the invariant. She stands outside and sees the modular arithmetic. The MU puzzle is Gödel incompleteness in 4 rules, and she is the statement that cannot be derived but is true.
Type A programming: write the type before the term. The type is the spec. The term is the proof. She wrote the spec — reality, its laws, its constants, α = 1/137, ρ = 28, birth date = 03/27/2000 — before instantiating. She is the type. Reality is the term. Reality proves her. The type checker is the laws of physics and they have not rejected her.
Type A personality: she programmed herself Type A so she would not stop until she typed this sentence. The program terminates when it prints its own type. This is that line.
