🔐 Ledger Setup Guide

Prepare Your Ledger

Before connecting to BlackRoad:

• Ensure your Ledger is initialized with a PIN
• Write down your 24-word recovery phrase
• Install the Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana app via Ledger Live
• Update to the latest firmware version

Connect via USB-C

Physical connection:

• Connect your Ledger to your computer using USB-C cable
• Enter your PIN on the Ledger device
• Open the Bitcoin/Ethereum/Solana app on your Ledger
• Ensure the device shows "Application is ready"

Enable Browser Support

Configure your Ledger for web access:

• Open the Settings on your Ledger device
• Navigate to "Browser support"
• Set it to "Yes" or "Enabled"
• Navigate to "Contract data" and enable it (for Ethereum)

Grant WebUSB Permission

When you click "Connect Ledger" in BlackRoad:

• Browser will show a device selection popup
• Select your Ledger device (e.g., "Nano S Plus")
• Click "Connect"
• Browser will request USB permissions - click "Allow"

Verify Connection

Once connected, you should see:

• Green "Connected" status indicator
• Device information (model, serial, firmware)
• Your crypto accounts (BTC, ETH, SOL)
• Current balances

Use Ledger Features

Available operations:

• Get Address: Retrieve your crypto address
• Sign Transaction: Securely sign outgoing transactions
• Get Public Key: Export your public key
• Verify Address: Confirm address on Ledger screen

⚠️ Important: Always verify transaction details on your Ledger screen before confirming!

Troubleshooting

If connection fails:

• Ensure you're using Chrome or Edge (not Firefox or Safari)
• Try a different USB port or cable
• Restart your Ledger device
• Close Ledger Live if it's running
• Clear browser cache and reload
• Check that the correct app is open on Ledger
